HCA Healthcare Completes Acquisition of College of Health Care Professions
HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA) has completed its acquisition of The College of Health Care Professions, expanding the healthcare provider’s education and workforce-development operations.
CHCP serves more than 8,000 students across 10 campuses in Texas and through online programs, offering more than 20 accredited healthcare programs. Since its founding in 1988, the college has helped prepare more than 52,000 students for careers across allied-health disciplines.
The acquisition strengthens HCA Healthcare’s strategy of developing its own pipeline of healthcare professionals as demand for skilled workers continues to grow. HCA already supports nursing education through Galen College of Nursing, Research College of Nursing and Mercy School of Nursing, while sponsoring more than 365 graduate medical education programs across 87 hospitals.
CHCP will retain its existing programs and educational mission, with Eric Bing continuing as Chancellor and CEO. The transaction builds on a longstanding relationship between HCA and CHCP involving clinical training sites, advisory boards and career placement, while potentially providing students with broader career opportunities across HCA’s network of 190 hospitals and roughly 2,600 ambulatory care sites.
