Microchip Technology Expands Edge AI Reach With AnalogAI Partnership
Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) said AnalogAI has selected memBrain SAGE technology from its Silicon Storage Technology subsidiary for AnalogAI’s first real-world edge AI processors. The processors are designed to train and run AI models directly on devices rather than relying on cloud infrastructure.
AnalogAI will use Microchip’s analog compute-in-memory technology to target AI performance at or below one watt, enabling ultra-low-power applications including humanoid robots, drones and vehicles that can adapt to changing environments in real time.
The memBrain SAGE platform integrates computation and memory functions and is already deployed using 40-nanometer and 28-nanometer manufacturing processes, while Microchip is developing a 22-nanometer version. AnalogAI said it selected the technology following an industry-wide evaluation, citing its combination of power efficiency, performance and faster development time.
The deal expands Microchip’s exposure to the growing edge-AI market, where robotics and autonomous systems increasingly require AI inference and adaptation directly on devices with tight power constraints.
