Microchip Launches 1.2V Clock Buffers for AI, FPGA and SoC Applications

Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) introduced its new SY757xx family of 1.2V-output LVCMOS clock buffers, targeting growing demand from high-performance FPGAs, SoCs, AI accelerators and next-generation CPUs.

The new clock buffers are designed to connect advanced processors requiring low-voltage clock signals with components operating at higher voltages. The devices support voltage translation across a 1.2V-to-3.3V input range and frequencies from 0 Hz to 250 MHz, providing a single-chip alternative to discrete components and voltage-divider designs.

Microchip said the SY757xx family delivers additive jitter as low as 26 femtoseconds, helping preserve signal integrity and clock accuracy in applications where precise timing is critical. Potential uses include AI and machine-learning acceleration, industrial control, embedded vision, networking, communications and real-time computing.

Three products in the family are already in volume production, while another eight are sampling in limited quantities. The production devices offer configurations with two or four LVCMOS outputs and are available in compact VDFN and TDFN packages.

Pricing for the SY75707TWL-TR, SY75712TWL-TR and SY75714TWL-TR ranges from $0.50 to $0.83 per unit in quantities of 10,000.

The launch expands Microchip’s timing portfolio as increasingly advanced semiconductor architectures move toward lower operating voltages. By integrating voltage translation and low-jitter clock distribution into a single device, Microchip aims to reduce component counts, lower bill-of-materials costs and simplify board designs for next-generation computing systems.
