Medtronic Stock Rises 1.5% After Strong Q1 Results and Raised FY2027 Guidance

Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) shares rose about 1.5% after the medical-device company reported strong fiscal first-quarter results and raised its full-year revenue and earnings outlook.

Revenue reached $9.76 billion, increasing 13.7% both reported and organically and coming roughly 200 basis points above the midpoint of the company’s guidance. Adjusted EPS rose 15.1% to $1.45, also ahead of Medtronic’s expectations. The quarter benefited from an extra fiscal week, which contributed approximately $570 million to revenue.

Growth was broad-based across Medtronic’s portfolio. Cardiovascular revenue increased 18.9% organically, including 88% growth in Cardiac Ablation Solutions, while Neuroscience grew 9.3%. Medical Surgical increased 10.2%, and the Diabetes business delivered 14.9% organic growth.

Profitability also improved. GAAP operating profit increased 22.1% to $1.76 billion, while GAAP net income jumped 41.4% to $1.47 billion. Adjusted operating profit rose 14.9% to $2.32 billion.

The likely key driver behind the positive stock reaction was Medtronic’s stronger outlook. The company raised its FY2027 organic revenue growth forecast to 7.25%-7.75% from 6.75%-7.25% and increased the lower end of its adjusted EPS guidance, with the new range at $5.94-$6.00 compared with $5.90-$6.00 previously.

Medtronic’s results also highlight strength in several faster-growing medical technology markets, particularly cardiac ablation, diabetes technology and robotic-assisted surgery. Continued growth from these newer platforms alongside the company’s established cardiovascular and neuroscience franchises could support a stronger long-term growth profile.
