PayPal Falls 11.3% as Analysts Cut Price Targets
PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) shares fell 11.3% as analysts issued cautious rating updates, adding to pressure on the payments company.
Loop Capital analyst Dominick Gabriele lowered the firm’s PayPal price target to $50 from $62 while maintaining a Hold rating. The new target is below PayPal’s current price of about $54.50, signaling limited near-term upside and a more cautious view of the stock.
Mizuho also updated its outlook, setting a $51 price target on PayPal. With both targets below the current share price, the analyst updates reinforce concerns about PayPal’s near-term valuation and growth outlook.
The reports suggest Wall Street remains cautious toward PayPal despite its large position in digital payments. Competitive pressure across online payments and fintech, alongside questions over the pace of branded checkout growth and margin expansion, remain important issues for investors. The lower analyst targets may therefore be contributing to the sharp decline in PayPal shares today.
