RTX Wins $22.9 Billion Tomahawk Missile Contract as U.S. Boosts Weapons Production
RTX (NYSE: RTX) is in focus Monday after its Raytheon business secured a major seven-year contract worth $22.9 billion to significantly expand production of Tomahawk cruise missiles for the U.S. Navy.
Under the agreement, Raytheon will ramp annual Tomahawk production to more than 1,000 missiles, along with associated support. The multi-year structure is designed to provide a more stable and predictable supply of the long-range precision-strike weapon for the U.S. Navy and allied forces.
The award represents a significant long-term addition to RTX’s defense business and highlights rising demand for missile production as the U.S. seeks to replenish inventories and expand weapons manufacturing capacity.
RTX has already been accelerating production. The company said it delivered three times as many Tomahawk missiles during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. The new contract will support further investments in manufacturing facilities, technology, workforce and the supply chain.
Defense Backlog Gets Major Boost
The $22.9 billion award is particularly significant given its scale and seven-year duration, providing Raytheon with substantial long-term revenue visibility. RTX will also work with hundreds of small and mid-sized suppliers as production expands.
Tomahawk remains one of the U.S. military’s primary long-range precision-strike weapons and can be launched from multiple naval platforms against targets hundreds of miles away.
For RTX, the contract reinforces Raytheon’s position as one of the most important suppliers of missiles and precision weapons to the U.S. military. With global defense spending elevated and governments increasingly focused on rebuilding weapons inventories, the Tomahawk production expansion could provide a meaningful long-term growth driver for RTX’s defense segment.
