Malaysia GDP Growth Accelerates to 6.0% in Q2, Beats Expectations
Malaysia’s economy expanded 6.0% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, accelerating from 5.4% in the previous quarter and beating expectations for 5.8% growth.
The stronger-than-expected performance was supported by resilient domestic demand and robust exports. Manufacturing expanded 7.3%, supported particularly by electrical and electronics products, while the services sector grew 5.9%. Mining activity also rebounded strongly, rising 9.2%.
