Synopsys Expands AI Simulation Push Through Ansys-NVIDIA Omniverse Integration
Synopsys (NASDAQ: SNPS) is strengthening its position in AI-powered engineering simulation through an agreement between its Ansys business and NVIDIA to integrate NVIDIA Omniverse technology directly into Ansys simulation solutions.
The collaboration will initially bring Omniverse capabilities into Ansys computational fluid dynamics and autonomous-system applications, giving engineers access to NVIDIA’s simulation technologies and libraries directly through the Ansys interface.
Agreement Targets Physical AI and Digital Twins
The integration is designed to accelerate the development of physical AI, digital twins and autonomous systems by combining Ansys’ physics-based simulation capabilities with NVIDIA’s Omniverse platform.
Ansys will use OpenUSD to provide interoperability between different computer-aided engineering tools and Omniverse environments. This could be particularly valuable for large CFD workloads, where engineers need to analyze and visualize complex datasets while maintaining consistent workflows across multiple engineering applications.
For autonomous systems, the combination is intended to improve the development, training, testing and validation process. Automated scenario generation and exploration could allow engineers to evaluate autonomous technologies across a broader range of virtual conditions before real-world deployment.
Synopsys Strengthens Position Across AI Engineering Stack
The agreement also expands Synopsys’ exposure to one of the fastest-developing areas of the AI ecosystem: the transition from generative AI toward physical AI, where artificial intelligence interacts with and models real-world environments.
Following its acquisition of Ansys, Synopsys combines semiconductor design and electronic design automation expertise with advanced engineering simulation capabilities. Integrating NVIDIA Omniverse further connects those capabilities with accelerated computing, digital twins and AI-based simulation.
The partnership has potential applications across automotive engineering, aerospace, communications and other industries requiring high-fidelity physical simulation. The companies specifically highlighted applications ranging from vehicle aerodynamics and autonomous-vehicle safety to 6G connectivity.
PyAnsys Adds Another AI Integration Layer
The collaboration extends beyond visualization. PyAnsys, a collection of Python packages, allows customers to customize and automate simulations within applications built on NVIDIA Omniverse.
One example is PyAnsys-Heart, a digital twin of the human heart that combines simulation with a speech-to-text interface, illustrating how AI could make sophisticated engineering models accessible through more intuitive interfaces.
For Synopsys, the agreement reinforces the strategic rationale behind combining its existing silicon-to-systems portfolio with Ansys. The company is increasingly positioned at the intersection of semiconductor design, engineering simulation, digital twins and physical AI, while NVIDIA provides the accelerated computing and Omniverse infrastructure connecting these increasingly complex virtual engineering environments.
