L3Harris Advances Next Generation Interceptor Program With Successful Rocket Motor Test
L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has successfully completed a hot-fire test of its stage-two advanced solid rocket motor for the Missile Defense Agency’s Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program.
The test, conducted as part of Lockheed Martin’s NGI team, validated the motor’s design through a full-duration burn in a simulated high-altitude vacuum environment. The results will support additional testing planned later this year and preparations for the program’s first flight test.
L3Harris is a key propulsion and control systems supplier for NGI, producing both stage-one and stage-two solid rocket motors as well as attitude and divert control systems used for precision maneuvering during missile interception.
The milestone strengthens L3Harris’ position in U.S. missile-defense programs as the company continues expanding propulsion production capacity. NGI is being developed as a next-generation component of U.S. homeland missile defense against advanced ballistic missile threats.
