Australia's Producer Inflation Accelerates Sharply in Second Quarter
Australia's producer inflation accelerated significantly in the second quarter, with both annual and quarterly producer price growth exceeding expectations, signaling that cost pressures remain elevated for businesses.
The Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 3.6% year over year in the second quarter, up from 3.0% in the previous quarter. On a quarterly basis, producer prices increased 1.3%, well above economists' expectations of 0.5% and sharply higher than the 0.4% increase recorded in the first quarter.
