Robinhood Stock Edges Higher After Record Q2 Results and Strong Customer Growth

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) shares rose 0.55% in premarket trading on Thursday after the online brokerage reported record second-quarter revenue and earnings, driven by strong trading activity, accelerating customer growth and expanding contributions from newer business lines.

Total net revenue increased 32% year-over-year to a record $1.31 billion, while net income rose 48% to $573 million. Diluted earnings per share climbed 48% to $0.62. Transaction-based revenue jumped 44% to $776 million, fueled by record options, equities and prediction market activity, although cryptocurrency trading revenue declined 38%.

Customer Growth and New Products Drive Momentum

Robinhood continued to attract new customers and assets during the quarter. Net deposits reached a record $21.7 billion, while total platform assets increased 32% to $369 billion. Funded customers grew to 28.4 million, investment accounts reached 29.9 million, and Robinhood Gold subscriptions climbed 39% year-over-year to a record 4.8 million.

The company also highlighted growing diversification beyond traditional brokerage services. Robinhood now has 13 business lines generating at least $100 million in annualized revenue, including Robinhood Legend, its credit card business and prediction markets. During the quarter, the company also expanded its AI-powered trading capabilities, launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain and continued its international expansion with the acquisition of WonderFi and a capital markets license in Singapore.

Strong Results, Limited Stock Reaction

Despite another record quarter, the stock posted only a modest premarket gain, suggesting investors had already priced in much of the company's strong operating momentum following Robinhood's significant share price appreciation over the past year.

What to Watch

Investors will now focus on whether Robinhood can sustain its rapid asset gathering and continue expanding higher-margin businesses such as subscriptions, banking, AI-powered trading and international operations. Trading activity, cryptocurrency volumes and adoption of the company's growing financial ecosystem are likely to remain key drivers of future performance.
