Boston Scientific Stock Edges Higher After Solid Q2 Results Despite Cautious Full-Year Outlook

Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) shares were up 1.3% on Wednesday following the company's second-quarter earnings report, as investors balanced another quarter of strong execution against a more moderate growth outlook for the second half of 2026.

The medical device maker reported second-quarter revenue of $5.44 billion, up 7.5% year over year, while organic sales increased 7.0%, reaching the high end of its guidance range. GAAP EPS rose to $0.61 from $0.53 a year earlier, while adjusted EPS climbed to $0.86, exceeding management's guidance of $0.82 to $0.84.

Performance remained broad-based across the portfolio. Cardiovascular revenue increased 8.3%, supported by continued demand for electrophysiology and structural heart products, while the MedSurg segment grew 5.9%. International markets also remained a key growth driver, with Asia-Pacific revenue rising 11.2% and Latin America and Canada posting 22.4% growth.

Boston Scientific continued to invest aggressively in future growth, including a $1.5 billion investment in MiRus to expand its structural heart platform. The company also announced positive clinical data for several cardiovascular technologies and continued advancing its next-generation electrophysiology portfolio.

Management updated its full-year 2026 guidance, forecasting reported revenue growth of 5.5% to 6.5%, organic revenue growth of 5% to 6%, and adjusted EPS of $3.28 to $3.32. Third-quarter guidance calls for reported and organic revenue growth of 3% to 5% and adjusted EPS of $0.80 to $0.82.

The positive share price reaction suggests investors focused on Boston Scientific's continued ability to outperform expectations and execute across its core businesses. While management expects growth to moderate from the exceptional pace seen in recent years, strong profitability, continued innovation, and leadership in high-growth cardiovascular markets continue to support confidence in the company's long-term outlook.
