Coca-Cola Stock Jumps 5.6% After Earnings as Strong Volume Growth and Higher Guidance Impress Investors
Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) shares climbed 5.6% on Tuesday after the beverage giant reported another strong quarterly performance, driven by solid global demand, broad-based volume growth, and an increase to its full-year guidance.
The company reported second-quarter net revenue of $13.4 billion, up 7% year over year, while organic revenue increased 6%. Global unit case volume rose 5%, led by strong demand in India, China, the United States, and Brazil. Earnings also exceeded expectations, with EPS rising 16% to $1.03, while comparable EPS increased 11% to $0.97. Operating margin expanded to 34.9% from 34.1% a year earlier, reflecting continued pricing discipline and operating efficiency.
Growth was broad-based across the portfolio. Trademark Coca-Cola volume increased 5%, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar surged 16%, while water, sports drinks, coffee, and tea collectively grew 6%. The company also gained market share in the global nonalcoholic ready-to-drink beverage category, highlighting the strength of its brands despite a challenging consumer environment.
Management also highlighted the success of its FIFA World Cup marketing campaign and ongoing product innovation, including continued expansion of Coca-Cola Zero Zero and other consumer-focused offerings. These initiatives helped drive volume growth while strengthening customer engagement across global markets.
Adding to investor optimism, Coca-Cola raised its full-year 2026 outlook. The company now expects approximately 5% organic revenue growth, up from its previous forecast of 4%–5%, while increasing its comparable currency-neutral EPS growth outlook to 7%–8% from 6%–7%. Comparable EPS growth guidance was also lifted to 9%–10%, supported by favorable currency trends and continued operational momentum.
The strong share price reaction reflects investors’ confidence in Coca-Cola’s ability to deliver consistent growth despite an uncertain economic backdrop. Robust volume growth, expanding margins, market share gains, and higher full-year guidance reinforced the company’s reputation as one of the consumer staples sector’s most reliable earnings growers.
