Credo Slips in Premarket Despite Another Blowout Quarter as Investors Focus on Valuation and Expectations

Shares of Credo Technology Group (NASDAQ: CRDO) fell approximately 4% in premarket trading Tuesday despite the company reporting another exceptional quarter that showcased its growing importance in AI networking infrastructure. The decline appears to reflect profit-taking and extremely high investor expectations following a massive rally that had already pushed the stock sharply higher over the past year.

Credo reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $437.0 million, exceeding the high end of its previous guidance and representing a remarkable 157% year-over-year increase. Revenue also grew 7.4% sequentially, demonstrating continued momentum even from already elevated levels. The company generated GAAP net income of $169.1 million, or $0.88 per diluted share, while non-GAAP earnings reached $226.7 million, or $1.16 per diluted share.

For the full fiscal year 2026, Credo delivered extraordinary growth. Revenue more than tripled to $1.3 billion, while non-GAAP net income increased more than fivefold to $662 million. The results underscore the company's rapid emergence as one of the key suppliers of high-speed connectivity solutions used in AI data centers and hyperscale computing environments.

Management highlighted strong demand for its portfolio of connectivity products, which help customers improve network reliability, maximize GPU utilization, accelerate cluster deployment, and reduce power consumption. As AI infrastructure becomes increasingly complex, efficient networking solutions have become a critical component of overall data center performance.

Importantly, Credo also provided another strong outlook. The company expects first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue between $465 million and $475 million, implying continued sequential growth and another quarter of robust demand. Gross margins are expected to remain exceptionally strong, with non-GAAP gross margin projected between 67% and 69%.

Chief Executive Officer Bill Brennan emphasized that Credo's vertically integrated approach continues to resonate with customers building large-scale AI clusters. The company has increasingly positioned itself as a provider of critical infrastructure that enables AI systems to operate more efficiently and reliably while lowering total operating costs.

Despite the impressive numbers, the stock's modest premarket decline likely reflects investor psychology rather than business fundamentals. Shares have been among the biggest beneficiaries of the AI infrastructure boom, and expectations heading into the earnings release were extremely high. In such situations, even strong results and guidance can trigger short-term profit-taking if investors were anticipating an even larger upside surprise.

Another factor may be valuation. After its substantial rally, Credo trades at premium multiples compared with many semiconductor peers. Investors appear to be weighing the company's exceptional growth against already elevated expectations embedded in the share price.

Nevertheless, the earnings report reinforces Credo's position as one of the fastest-growing companies in AI networking infrastructure. With revenue growth still exceeding 150%, margins approaching 70%, a debt-free balance sheet, and $1.4 billion in cash and short-term investments, the company remains well positioned to benefit from the ongoing expansion of AI data centers and high-performance computing networks.
