Vaxcyte reported strong progress in its pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) programs, achieving key milestones in 2024 and preparing for major clinical advancements in 2025. The company successfully completed its VAX-31 Phase 2 adult program and is on track to initiate a Phase 3 pivotal, non-inferiority study by mid-2025, with topline safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity data expected in 2026. In the pediatric segment, Vaxcyte plans to announce Phase 2 topline data for the VAX-24 infant primary immunization series by the end of Q1 2025, followed by booster dose data at the end of the year. Additionally, the VAX-31 infant study advanced to its final stage, with primary immunization data anticipated in mid-2026.

Financially, Vaxcyte strengthened its position by raising $2.2 billion through two follow-on equity offerings in 2024, bringing its cash, cash equivalents, and investments to $3.1 billion as of December 31, 2024. This financial stability supports its clinical programs, global manufacturing readiness, and early-stage pipeline, including vaccine candidates for Group A Strep and Shigella.

Key developments include VAX-31 receiving Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the FDA for invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) prevention in adults and positive Phase 2 results for VAX-24 in older adults, validating Vaxcyte’s carrier-sparing platform. The company also made leadership appointments to strengthen technical operations, regulatory strategy, and organizational growth.

Looking ahead, Vaxcyte will initiate multiple Phase 3 studies for VAX-31 in 2025 and 2026, with data readouts extending into 2027. It also plans to participate in investor conferences, including Cowen’s 45th Annual Health Care Conference and the Leerink Global Healthcare Conference in March 2025.

For Q4 and full-year 2024, Vaxcyte reported an increase in R&D expenses to $476.6 million, driven by expanded clinical and manufacturing activities. General and administrative expenses rose to $92.9 million, reflecting organizational growth. The company posted a net loss of $463.9 million for 2024, compared to $402.3 million in 2023. Capital expenditures for manufacturing suite construction at Lonza totaled $127.8 million in 2024, bringing total facility investment to $214.3 million.

Vaxcyte will host a webcast and conference call today at 4:30 p.m. ET to discuss its financial results and business updates.
