Dynatrace Drops 15% as Growth Deceleration and Guidance Disappoint Despite Strong ARR Milestone

May 13, 2026 | NYSE: DT

Dynatrace is the session's sharpest decliner among software names today, falling 15% despite crossing the $2 billion ARR milestone and delivering a year of consistent execution. The brutal reaction speaks to the gap between what the results show and what the market had priced in — a recurring theme in high-multiple software stocks where growth trajectory matters more than absolute performance.

The full-year FY2026 numbers are objectively solid. Total revenue grew 19% to $2.018 billion, ARR reached $2.054 billion at 18% growth, free cash flow expanded to $529 million at a 26% margin, and non-GAAP operating margin held steady at 29%. The company closed a record 22 deals above $1 million ACV in Q4, log management grew over 100% year-on-year, and Dynatrace surpassed $1 billion in AWS Marketplace sales. These are the metrics of a healthy, compounding software business.

The problem is the forward guidance. FY2027 ARR is guided to $2.382 to $2.402 billion, representing 15.5% to 16.5% constant currency growth — a deceleration from the 16% to 18% range delivered in FY2026. Total revenue guidance of $2.317 to $2.335 billion implies 14% to 15% constant currency growth, also stepping down. Non-GAAP EPS guidance of $1.93 to $1.95 is underwhelming relative to the growth rate investors are paying for. For a stock that commands a premium multiple on the expectation of durable high-teens growth, any deceleration — even to still-healthy mid-teens — tends to trigger a significant repricing.

Q4 itself also showed some pressure. GAAP operating margin contracted to 7% from 10% a year ago, and GAAP net income fell to $17.4 million from $39.3 million, with the increase in share repurchase activity — up 40% sequentially to $224 million — perhaps signaling management's own view that the stock was becoming attractively priced even before today's decline.

The AI observability narrative remains intact. Dynatrace expanded its Model Context Protocol server as a connector for Anthropic's Claude, extended GitHub Advanced Security integration, and acquired DevCycle and Bindplane to strengthen its platform. The strategic positioning in mission-critical AI infrastructure monitoring is real and defensible.

But in a market already anxious about valuations and growth sustainability, guiding to deceleration is an unforgiving act. Today's 15% drop reflects investors resetting their expectations for what Dynatrace's growth trajectory actually looks like from here.
