Delivery Hero has unveiled “Herogen,” an autonomous AI software agent designed to significantly boost engineering productivity, with current output equivalent to a 130-person engineering team. The system, built on large language models, autonomously writes, tests, and submits code, handling around 9% of all code changes despite being adopted by only 18% of developers so far.
Herogen operates with an 85% success rate and is capable of processing over 100 code changes daily, freeing up an estimated 250,000 hours of manual work annually. The company aims to expand its usage to cover 20% of all code changes by the end of the year.
Rather than replacing engineers, Delivery Hero says the AI shifts their focus toward higher-level tasks such as system design and innovation, supporting the company’s strategy to accelerate development of its “Everyday App” platform.
