Siemens AG announced a new Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service aimed at strengthening cybersecurity for energy providers and critical infrastructure operators.

The service delivers 24/7 monitoring, threat analysis, and incident response across both IT and operational technology systems, helping organizations address increasing cyber risks as digitalization expands. Siemens stated that the solution can reduce initial investment costs by up to 80% and ongoing cybersecurity operating costs by up to 50% compared to building in-house security operations.

Designed to comply with EU NIS 2 cybersecurity regulations, the MDR service enhances threat detection speed—cutting response times by up to 90%—while enabling companies to maintain secure and resilient operations. Early adoption includes German utility Hertener Stadtwerke, which is using the system to protect its infrastructure.
