Zug, Switzerland, April 15, 2026 — Siemens has launched a new portfolio of direct current (DC) power distribution solutions aimed at improving efficiency and resilience in industrial and infrastructure applications.

The portfolio includes the SENTRON 3QD2 semiconductor circuit breaker and the SIRIUS 3RF5 solid-state switching device, designed for ultra-fast protection and high-frequency switching in environments such as data centers, manufacturing facilities, and battery storage systems. The SENTRON breaker can interrupt short circuits in microseconds—up to 1,000 times faster than conventional systems—enhancing safety and system reliability.

Siemens said the shift toward DC technology supports the integration of renewable energy sources and reduces energy losses associated with AC conversion. The new solutions can cut peak power consumption by up to 80% and reduce material usage, such as cabling, by up to 50%.

The company highlighted the launch as part of its broader push to enable more sustainable and future-ready infrastructure, aligning with global decarbonization and electrification trends.
