Cardinal Health announced a significant expansion of its Actinium-225 (Ac-225) production capacity to support the growing demand for advanced cancer therapies.
The company has added a high-capacity production line at its Center for Theranostics Advancement in Indiana, substantially increasing its supply of cGMP-compliant Ac-225, a key radioactive material used in targeted alpha therapies. These therapies are emerging as a promising treatment option for multiple cancers, including prostate, breast, and lymphoma.
Since 2024, Cardinal Health has already quadrupled its weekly Ac-225 output and expects further increases in 2026 as demand accelerates. The expanded capacity aims to address global supply constraints that have slowed clinical progress in this field.
The company said the move will enhance access for research and clinical trials, where its Ac-225 has already supported more than 15 studies worldwide, positioning it to meet future commercial demand for next-generation cancer treatments.
