Zurich, March 31, 2026 — IBM and ETH Zurich announced a 10-year collaboration to develop next-generation algorithms at the intersection of artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

The initiative will focus on creating new algorithmic foundations that bridge classical computing, machine learning, and quantum systems, targeting complex challenges in areas such as optimization, differential equations, and system modeling. As part of the partnership, IBM will support new professorships and research projects at ETH Zurich to advance education and innovation in algorithm design.

Both organizations emphasized that algorithms will play a central role in unlocking the full potential of emerging technologies, particularly as AI and quantum computing converge. The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between the two institutions and aims to shape future computing paradigms while training the next generation of experts.
