Fujitsu Limited announced the development of a world-first high-sensitivity, high-resolution infrared sensor designed to enhance monitoring capabilities in defense and disaster prevention.
The new sensor features over one million pixels and dual-band detection, enabling it to capture both mid- and long-wavelength infrared signals while detecting temperature differences as small as 0.05°C. This allows for precise monitoring in both day and night conditions and improves detection and identification performance compared to conventional sensors.
Developed under a project with Japan’s Acquisition Technology & Logistics Agency, the technology is expected to support applications such as disaster response, environmental monitoring, early fire detection, and surveillance systems mounted on satellites or aircraft.
Fujitsu plans to leverage this technology for commercial products starting in fiscal 2026, targeting monitoring cameras and other advanced sensing applications across multiple sectors.
