Tech Mahindra partners with IIT Bombay to develop 3D digital twin for smart infrastructure
March 26, 2026 — Tech Mahindra signed a memorandum of understanding with IIT Bombay to develop a 3D digital twin of the institute’s Gymkhana building, aiming to demonstrate next-generation smart infrastructure capabilities.
The project will use advanced technologies such as 3D modeling, Building Information Modeling (BIM), cloud-based visualization, and spatial data integration to create a virtual replica of the facility.
The digital twin will enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and simulation, while supporting integration with IoT systems and advanced analytics for optimized infrastructure management.
Tech Mahindra said the initiative highlights the growing role of digital twin and immersive technologies in transforming infrastructure planning and operations, and could serve as a scalable model for smart campuses and public infrastructure projects.
