Accenture Federal Services wins NOAA contract to modernize weather forecasting system

March 24, 2026 — Accenture Federal Services has been selected to support the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in modernizing the National Weather Service’s core forecasting system.

Under the contract, Accenture will help replace the legacy AWIPS platform with NWS HIVE, a next-generation system used nationwide to generate and deliver weather, water, and climate forecasts and warnings.

The project will leverage technologies including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and DevSecOps to enhance system performance, scalability, and security, while enabling more agile and data-driven forecasting operations.

Accenture said the modernization will improve the reliability and speed of forecasting tools, helping protect lives, property, and economic activity across the United States.
