Fujitsu and Umios announced the successful completion of a pilot project for an electronic traceability system designed to track seafood distribution and enhance supply chain transparency.

The system enables consumers to access full production history—from farming to retail—via smartphones, with pilot results showing strong consumer trust and willingness to pay more for traceable products.

The initiative aims to combat illegal fishing and support sustainable fisheries, with plans to expand the system to additional species and begin commercial deployment by fiscal year 2027.
