Keysight Technologies announced it has completed the industry’s first public interoperability demonstration of Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) technology featuring Link Layer Retry (LLR) and Credit-Based Flow Control (CBFC) operating at full 800-gigabit Ethernet (800GE) line rate. The demonstration was conducted with Broadcom at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2026.
The demonstration integrated Keysight’s Interconnect and Network Performance Tester with Broadcom’s Tomahawk Ultra Ethernet switch, validating next-generation link-layer technologies designed to support high-performance AI networking. LLR enables local error recovery to reduce latency, while CBFC manages link-layer flow control to improve network efficiency in large-scale AI clusters.
The companies said the milestone highlights the growing importance of Ultra Ethernet technologies as hyperscalers and enterprises scale AI infrastructure, helping ensure interoperability and performance validation for next-generation, AI-optimized data center networks.
