PPL Electric Utilities has reached a settlement agreement to increase base distribution rates in Pennsylvania, its first such rate adjustment since 2016.

The proposal, submitted to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, would raise annual base distribution revenues by $275 million to fund investments in grid reliability, infrastructure upgrades and customer support programs. Planned improvements include replacing aging equipment, expanding smart grid technologies and enhancing outage prevention measures.

If approved, residential customers using 1,000 kWh per month would see their bills rise by about $7.42. The new rates would take effect on July 1, 2026, and the company has agreed not to seek another base distribution rate increase for two years.
