Regeneron announced positive Phase 3 results for the obesity treatment olatorepatide in a clinical trial conducted in China by Hansoh Pharmaceutical.
In the 48-week randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 604 adults with obesity or overweight, patients receiving once-weekly olatorepatide achieved up to 19% average body-weight loss, with as many as 97% of participants losing at least 5% of their body weight. The drug also showed favorable gastrointestinal tolerability, with relatively low rates of nausea and vomiting.
Olatorepatide is a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist, and Regeneron holds development and commercialization rights outside Greater China. The company plans to launch a global Phase 3 registrational program later in 2026 as it advances the treatment in the competitive obesity-drug market.
