PPG launched a new fast-drying clearcoat for its PPG Deltron automotive refinish product line across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce energy use in body shop repair processes.
The new product, Deltron D8178 Rapid Low Energy clearcoat, uses advanced drying technology that allows multiple curing options, including five minutes at 50°C or air-drying at 20°C. The air-dry mode can cut energy consumption by up to 60% compared with traditional baking methods.
According to the company, the product helps repair centers speed up workflows, lower energy costs and maintain high-quality finishes, following extensive testing in 21 body shops across seven countries.
