Brookfield Asset Management, together with British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) and Norges Bank Investment Management, announced the launch of Northview Energy, a privately held renewable energy company focused on owning and operating contracted renewable assets in the United States and Canada.
The new platform will initially acquire a seed portfolio of 22 operating utility-scale renewable assets, including solar and onshore wind projects. The assets, sourced from companies managed by Brookfield such as Deriva Energy, Scout Clean Energy, and Urban Grid, represent approximately 2.3 gigawatts of installed capacity across six U.S. power markets. All projects are backed by long-term power purchase agreements with investment-grade counterparties, with an average remaining contract duration of about 16 years.
Northview Energy will be equally owned and funded by the three investors and is designed to generate stable and predictable cash flows from contracted renewable assets. The partners also signed a framework agreement that could allow Northview to acquire up to $1.5 billion of additional renewable assets from Brookfield-managed portfolios in the future.
The company is expected to formally launch in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions. The platform aims to expand through additional acquisitions of de-risked operating assets such as wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
