Becton, Dickinson and Company (NYSE: BDX) has received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for Surgiphor™ 1000mL, the first and only 1,000 mL antimicrobial irrigation system designed specifically for powered lavage.
The terminally sterile, ready-to-use PVP-I solution is engineered to mechanically remove debris and microorganisms during wound irrigation, eliminating the need for manual mixing in the operating room. The system is compatible with commonly used powered lavage devices and includes adapters, a Y-connector for saline switching, and a collapsible bottle to support optimized flow and handling.
BD said the larger-volume configuration expands its Surgiphor™ portfolio, offering both manual and powered irrigation options to improve surgical efficiency, consistency, and patient safety.
