PPL Corporation announced plans to sell 20 million equity units at a stated amount of $50 each, raising $1 billion in aggregate. Each unit will include a forward contract to purchase PPL common stock and interests in remarketable senior notes issued by PPL Capital Funding.
The company may grant underwriters an option to purchase up to 3 million additional units, potentially increasing proceeds by $150 million. PPL intends to list the units on the New York Stock Exchange and use the net proceeds to repay short-term debt and for general corporate purposes. J.P. Morgan, BofA Securities, Morgan Stanley and RBC Capital Markets are acting as joint book-running managers.
