A new Scotiabank poll found that aligning on risk tolerance is the biggest challenge for couples investing together, cited by 38% of Canadians in a relationship, ahead of differences in spending or saving habits. The survey also showed that many couples struggle with decisions such as whether to combine finances and how to start investing, underscoring the need for guidance. Despite these hurdles, most couples are comfortable sharing investment decisions, driven by trust in their partner’s judgment and the belief that investing together can strengthen relationships, with notable differences in attitudes and needs across generations.
