Boeing and Air India announced that Air India has placed an order for 30 additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as it continues to expand and modernize its single-aisle fleet. The order includes 20 Boeing 737-8 jets and 10 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, exercising existing purchase options as the airline responds to strong growth in domestic and regional travel demand.

The newly ordered aircraft will support Air India’s strategy to increase capacity, improve fuel efficiency and maintain fleet commonality across high-frequency routes in India and South Asia. Boeing noted that the deal highlights strong demand for single-aisle aircraft in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, with long-term forecasts pointing to significant fleet expansion needs across the region.
