IPG Photonics Reports Strong Q3 2025 Results, Returns to Profit on Higher Margins
IPG Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: IPGP) posted third-quarter 2025 revenue of $250.8 million, up 8% year over year, as new business wins and strategic initiatives offset stable industrial demand. Excluding divestitures, revenue grew 11%. Net income reached $7.5 million, or $0.18 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $233.6 million ($5.33 per share) a year earlier. Adjusted earnings per diluted share rose 9% to $0.35.
Gross margin improved sharply to 39.5% from 23.2% in Q3 2024, benefiting from reduced unabsorbed expenses and lower inventory provisions. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 33% to $37 million. Operating income swung to a $7.9 million profit from a $253.3 million loss a year ago, reflecting successful cost discipline and margin recovery.
By segment, materials processing contributed 88% of total sales, up 6% year over year, led by welding, additive manufacturing, cleaning, and micromachining. Medical and advanced applications grew 20%, driving diversification. Regionally, sales increased 15% in Asia and 8% in North America, while Europe declined 7%. Emerging growth products represented 52% of total revenue.
CEO Dr. Mark Gitin highlighted that the quarter’s results came in at the top end of expectations, adding that IPG is “balancing expense management with investments in innovation to position the company for sustainable, profitable growth.”
For Q4 2025, IPG expects revenue between $230 million and $260 million, adjusted gross margin of 36–39%, and adjusted EPS of $0.05–$0.35. The company anticipates adjusted EBITDA in the range of $21–$38 million, citing stable demand and opportunities in high-growth laser and photonics markets.
