The Progressive Corporation (NYSE: PGR) reported strong premium growth but lower monthly profit for September 2025. Net premiums written rose 8% to $7.13 billion, while quarterly premiums grew 10% year-over-year to $21.38 billion. Quarterly net income increased 12% to $2.62 billion, but September’s net income fell 48% to $305 million due to higher loss ratios, with a combined ratio of 100.4 versus 93.4 a year earlier.

Progressive’s policies in force grew 12% year-over-year to 38.1 million, driven by double-digit growth in both agency and direct auto lines. Despite short-term profit pressure from claims costs, the company’s strong premium expansion and record policy count underscore continued momentum in its core auto and property insurance segments.
