Republic Services announced that its Las Vegas Polymer Center is producing recycled plastic flake (rPET) with a 54% lower carbon footprint than U.S. rPET alternatives and 82% lower than virgin PET, according to an independent product carbon footprint study. The facility’s patented, energy-efficient process and access to a cleaner regional power grid underpin the reduced emissions.

The bottle-grade rPET enables true bottle-to-bottle circularity, supports customers’ recycled content goals, and reduces Scope 3 emissions. Republic Services also recycles additional non-PET materials during processing, further enhancing circularity.

With Polymer Centers in Las Vegas and Indianapolis, and a third under construction in Pennsylvania, Republic Services expects each site to produce about 120 million pounds of bottle-grade recycled plastics annually, advancing its strategy to support decarbonization and a circular economy.
